In this post I give a platform to Zoë Sallin, an intern in 2022 in the restoration studio. She started her own studio in France in 2023 under the name CROMA

CROMA, acronym of Conservation Restoration of Old and Modern Art, is the studio run by Zoé. From an early age, Zoé was fascinated by the world of art and attracted to science. That’s why the conservation of art has become obvious to her, combining her two passions.

Approach

The approach of Atelier CROMA is based on a scientific understanding of the material of your piece and its reactions to external stimuli, in order to restore the original intention of the artist. Zoé carries out all types of restoration work, whether it is a humble family canvas or a master’s painting, as well as whether it is a painting with modern or old techniques. Her skills are constantly updated by research and training to guarantee quality results; to intervene on the support (tears mending, lining, tension of canvases, …) or on the pictorial layer (retouching, cleaning, varnish, …). Atelier CROMA provides a personalized approach and attaches great importance to the systematic documentation of the work done, by providing before/ after intervention photos; available in French or English.

Strong habits

Its little plus: with a strong ecological conscience, Zoé is driven by the constant desire to satisfy her customers, by the love of work well done and the meticulous care given to each project. It is by combining her technical knowledge and her manual skills that she will give back life to your art works, while remaining in a treatment as minimalist as possible.
